Price : $12.99
Release Date : 2005-03-22
Description : In his first collection of short fiction, New York Times bestselling author John Connolly offers a selection of dark, daring, and utterly haunting tales. Here are lost lovers and missing children, predatory demons, and vengeful ghosts. In "The New Daughter," a father comes to suspect that a burial mound on his land hides something very ancient, and very much alive; in "The Underbury Witches," a pair of London detectives find themselves battling a particularly female evil in a town culled of its menfolk. And finally, private detective Charlie Parker returns in the long novella "The Reflecting Eye," in which the photograph of an unknown girl turns up in the mailbox of an abandoned house once occupied by an infamous killer. This discovery forces Parker to confront the possibility that the house is not as empty as it appears, and that something has been waiting in the darkness for its chance to kill again.
In these stories, Connolly ratchets up the tension to almost unbearable -- and irresistible -- levels. Nocturnes is a deliciously chilling collection from "one of the best thriller writers we have" (Harlan Coben).

Release Date : 2018-05-01
Description : John Connolly brings Stan Laurel to life in this extraordinary novel about the comedian's wildly successful and tender partnership with Oliver Hardy during the anarchy of early Hollywood
John Connolly conjures the Golden Age of Hollywood in this moving, literary portrait of two men who find their true selves in a comedic partnership. When Stan Laurel is paired with Oliver Hardy, affectionately known as Babe, the history of comedy--not to mention their personal and professional lives--is altered forever.
Yet Laurel's simple screen persona masks a complex human being, one who endures rejection and intense loss; who struggles to build a character from the dying stages of vaudeville to the seedy and often volatile movie studios of Los Angeles in the early years of cinema; and who is haunted by the figure of another comic genius, the brilliant, driven, and cruel Charlie Chaplin.

Eventually, Laurel becomes one of the greatest screen comedians the world has ever known: a man who enjoys both adoration and humiliation; who loved, and is loved in turn; who betrays, and is betrayed; who never seeks to cause pain to anyone else, yet leaves a trail of affairs and broken marriages in his wake.
But Laurel's life is ultimately defined by one relationship of such astonishing tenderness and devotion that only death could sever this profound connection: his love for Babe. Shot through with the competing themes of loyalty and heartbreak, ambition and selflessness, artistry and compromise, this novel is an unforgettable testament to the redemptive power of love, as experienced by one of the twentieth century's greatest performers.

37 El camino blanco

Author : John Connolly
Genre : Mysteries & Thrillers Books
Price : $7.99
Release Date : 2013-04-11

38 Nocturnos

Author : John Connolly
Genre : Horror Books Fiction & Literature
Price : $7.99
Release Date : 2013-11-07

Shadows are gathering in the skies, a black heart of pure evil is bubbling with revenge, and it rather looks as if the Multiverse is about to come to an end, starting with Biddlecombe. When a new toy shop’s opening goes terrifyingly awry, Samuel must gather a ragtag band of dwarfs, policemen, and very polite monsters to face down the greatest threat the Multiverse has ever known, not to mention assorted vampires, a girl with an unnatural fondness for spiders, and highly flammable unfriendly elves.

The latest installment of John Connolly’s wholly original and creepily imaginative Samuel Johnson Tales, The Creeps is humorous horror for anyone who enjoys fiction at its best.

41 Our Lives

Price : $3.99
Release Date : 2014-03-20
Description : A series of stories that provide a picture of struggle and strength in many different societies. What makes history live? Stories about individuals who take us to places we have not been. Learning about the lives of girls and women over a lengthy period of time will stimulate discussion about those lives as well as their counterparts today. Each life lived has a story we can learn from. In "Our Lives: Girls' and Women's Stories Across Two Millennia," editor John Connolly offers ten short fiction stories penned by young writers that provide pictures of the struggle and strength of girls and women in many different societies. These stories may take us to unfamiliar places as the girls' and women's images come to life through original sketches. "Hoski" tells the story of a young Navajo girl living in the period around 1400 in what is now the United States; it explores her relationship with her grandmother and explains why she needs to be strong. "Gaia Valeria" introduces Gaia, a fifteen-year-old from a wealthy family living in Pompeii during the Roman Empire, and compares her life with that of her slave. "The Diary of Zhang Lihua" shares excerpts from the diary of a young woman living in Northern China near the end of the sixth century as she describes her family and political changes taking place at that time. Making history come alive, "Our Lives" is intended to stimulate discussion about the lives of girls and women and their struggles and triumphs of yesteryear and what it means to today's society.
